John Hahesy

BIOGRAPHY

John Hahesy is a public affairs strategist with Preti Minahan Strategies. As Director of Issues Management, John creates and delivers powerful messages for clients in both the political and public spheres.

John's career has been deeply woven through the fields of journalism and government relations. As a reporter and editor for several publications, including the Malden Evening News, John learned first hand the most effective strategies for communicating through earned media and responding to press inquiries. Because of this experience, John's clients gain access to his deep knowledge of crisis communication and media relations. He now authors the Massachusetts Politics Blog, published by Preti Minahan Strategies.

From 1984 to 1998, John worked as the vice president for public/government relations at Hallmark Health, a system of non-profit hospitals. In this role, he crafted broad, multi-year public affairs strategies, integrating media coverage (both paid and earned), community relations and government advocacy.

In 1998, John joined Preti Minahan and has helped develop integrated government relations, public affairs and community relations strategies for his clients. Both a well-known figure in state government and a savvy operator in local settings, John uses his decades of diverse public affairs engagements to achieve client goals.

John lives in Melrose with his wife, with whom he has four adult children. He is a graduate of Northeastern University.
